Thank you to all those who visited the Biochemical Society and Portland Press stands at the FEBS & IUBMB Congress in Seville, Spain (4-9 September 2012).
Congratulations to Antonella Salvia a PhD student (University of Basilicata, Italy) for winning the in the Society’s prize draw. Antonella is currently working on the expression of some membrane transporters belonging to the ABC superfamily in tumor tissues before and after the chemotherapy treatment.
During the meeting there was also good news for three Biochemical Society members who were elected on to FEBS and IUBMB committees:
- Frank Michelangeli (University of Birmingham) – FEBS Education Committee
- Richard Porter (Trinity College Dublin) – IUBMB nominating committee
- Gerry Melino (University of Leicester) – Publications Committee

Educating the next generation of molecular bioscience graduates has always been about ensuring students are equipped with appropriate key skills that enable them to flourish and succeed in their future careers. In this education workshop we aim through, lectures, demonstrations, group discussion and posters sessions, to share novel ideas and approaches with bioscience educators, to enhance the student experience and potentially improve their employment prospects.
